Retired, after a 34 year career as a Contractor Negotiator and Senior Advisor for Rockwel International, Rodney has become a very involved volunteer in several Dana Point Non-profit groups, such as the Historical Society and Civic Association. He also recently retired after serving for four years on the City of Dana Point Traffic Commission and was honored to be named the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce "Citizen of the Year" for 2008 for his service to the community. He has lived in Dana Point for 30 years, previously from Balboa Island.
During his career and subsequent vounteer work, he constantly found himself involved in public speaking, a task that was very uncomfortable for him, producing a great deal of "stagefright". Finally, in April, 2009, he decided to take action and joined the Dana Point Coastmasters Group. "One of the best things I have ever done. I have a lot to learn, but I already feel much better about standing up and speaking in front of a group thanks to the great help I have received here" says Howorth. He finds the people in this group to be be very welcoming, extremely helpful and comfortable to work and have fun with. He plans on working his way through the Program and is proud and thankful to be a member of Dana Point Coastmasters!

After obtaining his degree in no less than something "highly useful" as Math (ugh
he thinks back) he went to work in Aerospace
( another Ugh is heard). There he was
employed in such places as TRW and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
It was there he learned he was not a nerd after all. Completing his tenure in this industry ( phew) he embarked on an successful career in Residential Real Estate Sales. Dan enjoys this path as he has met many fine friends. His quest in life are " a good red wine" and "some great tasting Calamari".
