Greetings Coastmasters,

Our meeting today was led by the wonderful, enthusiastic Fiona Smith who shared her love of all things festive and set our theme as Holiday Spirit.

Our Table Topics today was turned on its head, as John Odland had to come up with Impromtu questions for people to give impromptu answers to. He did an excellent job, and Don Benton was awarded Best Table Topics for his heartwarming tale about his father.

Our speeches today were led by Geri Haner-Nelms who gave us an insight into her life story and the possibilities all around us. Brad Smith then shared his passion for cooking Chili and also his secret winning recipe. Finally we heard from Dr Michael Whelan with his intriguing investigation into the ways humans cope (and don’t cope) with stress. For his tantalzing tasty tale, Brad won Best Speaker.

Our three evaluators today were myself, Linda Denton and Kim Barnett. All three of us shared our views on what each speakers did well, and what could be improved. In the end, I was fortunate enough to snare Best Evaluator for today.

Remember that next week on 12/12 we will host the Keystone Boys & Girls Club as three young speakers give their speech in front of our group. They have just been through 8 weeks of Toastmasters training, and this is their chance to shine, so come along and support them.

Also remember we have our Coastmasters Christmas Event on Saturday Dec 14th from 4pm-8pm. It will be hosted by Michael & Patti Whelan, and the information is on the Evite which was sent out this week. Please reply over the weekend to let us know if you can make the party.

Enjoy the rest of your week, and I look forward to seeing you all again next week,

Daniel Midson-Short
Coastmasters Club President
