Greetings Coasties,

This week’s meeting was run by our very own VP of Education Linda Denton, who shared with us her passion for Charlie Brown and the theme of Sportsmanship.

Our Table Topics today were led by Michele Reed who gave us tricky questions based around famous sports stars and also a word association game. Best Table Topics went to Kim Barnett for her heartwarming words about her husband.

Our three speakers today were some of our newest members, as we heard from Ryan Foland about his Creative-A-Holic trait, and how rocks can be used  to create anything. Next we heard from John O, who shared some tips for overcoming fears and making progress, based on his coaching experience. And Finally from Stacey Gates who shared with us some compelling evidence of past lives and how they may affect our life today. For his creativity and speaking skills, Ryan was awarded best Speaker.

Our evaluators today were Dave DuRee, Amir Farahani, and myself. All three of us gave some insights and words of wisdom to improve the skills of our speakers. I was fortunate to take home the Best Evaluator award.

I would also like to acknowledge our Past President Leonard Szymczak for his herculean effort in competing in the Founders District Tall Tales competition last weekend. Leonard competed against the best 8 speakers from over 200 clubs, and although he didn’t take home the trophy, he did an amazing job representing our club and showing how much he has grown as a speaker. We are privileged to have such a talented individual in our club, and we all admire his willingness to keep competing and challenging himself.

Next week, we will be meeting as usual, and then the following week we will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday. So be sure to come and join us next week for the meeting and join in the fun that is Coastmasters!

See you all next Thursday,

Daniel Midson-Short
Coastmasters Club President
